A Late 18th Century Italian Marble Chimneypiece

A well proportioned and rare Italian chimneypiece, carved in the region of Piedmont towards the end of the 18th century. A simple breakfront shelf is resting on a panelled frieze carved at centre with a fluted tablet surmounted by an elegant scroll, and ending in bullseye cornerblocks. Panelled jambs are supported by footblocks.
