A French, 19th century Louis XVI style, Neoclassical antique fireplace in veined statuary marble with typical straight lines and symmetrical sculptured decoration. With rectangular moulded shelf above the frieze which is carved with scrolling, flowering acanthus. The jambs in the form of tapering consoles, with rounded bracket shaped shoulders capped by rectangular blockings delicately carved with more acanthus, symbolic of Imperial Rome, The whole resting and raised on foot blocks.
