A Refined Early Regency Welsh Chimneypiece Carved in Slate.

A fish-scale detail runs through the surround, and a patera motif is shown in the corner blocks and at centre of the header. The thin shelf together with the proportions of this design are typical of early 19th century chimneypieces, while the unusual decorative pattern makes it a rare specimen.
