A Refined Neoclassical Chimneypiece Carved in White Statuary Marble.

An early 19th century fireplace of simple but elegant design, the moulded shelf rests on a fluted frieze, which ends in cornerblocks carved with lyres. The central tablet depicts three playful cherubs, the one on the left holding a book and the one on the right a little lamb. The fluted ornamental motif continues along the jambs, supported by footblocks.
