One of a Pair of Irish Regency Columned Chimneypieces Carved in Convent Siena Marble with Statuary Marble Elements.

The present fireplace features free-standing Doric columns carved from the solid in high quality Siena marble with classically smooth, round capitals and bases resting on simple square foot-blocks. The columns support a thin, simple moulded shelf of Statuary marble. The Siena frieze includes Statuary details in the form of a central bullseye motif, flanked by side panels showing concentric rectangular bands of convex flutes. This chimneypiece is a great example of the Irish Regency style which adopted Neoclassical architectural elements in a simple but extremely elegant way.
