The carved shelf of this impressive Sienna and statuary marble fireplace features leaf, egg and dart and dentil mouldings below a Sienna frieze, which in turn boasts a statuary panelled tablet flanked by inlaid key fret. The blockings are carved with white acanthus paterae supported by tapering statuary columns ending in Ionic capitals, all contrasting brilliantly with the Sienna background of the jambs to give this magnificent chimneypiece added depth.
