The esoteric, almost modern, contemporary design of this extraordinary fireplace – which we have copied from an original 18th century Piranesian fireplace in our antique collection – shows his revolt against the limitation of Vitruvian Palladian classicism and his desire to enlarge the repertoire and vocabulary of design.
