An Early 20th Century Irish Donegal Carpet (3503)

A stout, roughly squared carpet in ochres and umbers. Field reveals a rustic design of floral palmettes, divers foliation, and a subtle central medallion, and is dominated by a substantial border, in charming trellis designs. Secondary colouring in blue-green throughout serves to offset dominant autumnal yellow and orange. In fantastic structural condition, but showing signs of consistent and gentle wear redolent of domestic use.
