In the manner of Linnell, c.1770. Closely related in form to the Scottish ‘Cockpen’ chair, the spotted surface and faux bamboo design of these examples lend a freshness to their untouched surfaces. The drop-in seats stripped to calico, with spandrels and gently raking backs.
Extremely similar to a set of ten ‘neat bamboo chairs’ made for William Drake, Shardeloes in 1767.
