With a pastoral scene of a quintessential English country house, with vernacular but stylised depictions of birds, clouds, a windmill, sheep and other farm animals, horses, and farmyard workers amongst the wheat fields. A couple stand at the forefront of the painting, underneath a magnificent billowing tree, their faces picked out in stitched and inked paper, the gentleman playing sweet tunes on a woodwind instrument.
