An oak bench with chamfered edges and traditional pegged construction after a design by John Gregory Crace. Working to designs by Pugin, Crace’s family firm made highly refined gothic furniture for many of England’s finest houses. This bench, while a recognisably gothic form, is defined by clean, graceful lines and exhibits some of the finest features of gothic architecture without the intricate tracery and meticulous ornamentation of some of much of Pugin’s work.
