The form of the Hardwicke sofa, with its gently shaped camel back and serpentine front rail, lightly scrolling arms, and deep seat on four turned front legs, is reproduced faithfully from an original George III country house sofa formerly in our antique collection. The chalky blue painted leg exhibits a sensitively aged painted surface, carefully replicating the original 18th century paint surface. The tight and buttoned upholstery in the Hepplewhite style, evokes the faded grandeur of the great drawing rooms of the 18th century English estate.
