Cameron Table

A pollard oak console table in the late Regency tradition, scaled up to broad Country House proportions. The rectangular top, here photographed using Derbyshire fossil marble (mined from the Chatsworth Estate), with squared edge above a conforming frieze, the soft pairing of octagonal tapered front legs with ring turned, moulded collars and with squared back supports, are united by a platform stretcher. Pollard oak is found at, or near, the base of oak trees that are subjected to regular pruning, the bulbous ‘burrs’ or ‘pollards’ formed produce distinctive markings, which are then thinly cut, laid, and carefully veneered.
