Shown here in a lightly aged and matte charcoal painted finish, simulating the dry and ‘sleepy’ finish of late 17th century ebonised ash wood, the design of this piece is taken from a William and Mary period ‘Tavern’ table. The overall joinery and resting flat top follows the original vernacular construction, boarded and cleated, and stands on turned and bulbous shaped legs and bun feet, with lightly curving X-frame stretcher and central long frieze drawer.
