Antique Verdigris

Verdigris, or copper acetate, is a naturally occurring protective layer that forms on metals such as copper, brass and bronze. Used since antiquity for it’s striking turquoise/grey hue, these days it is perhaps most famously known as the colour of America’s Statue of Liberty.
This finish is suitable for exterior use and offers a metal surface that is at once bright and muted, an apparent contradiction explained by the modern French for verdigris (‘vert-de-gris’) which means green of grey.
Finished by hand in our lighting workshop, this finish imitates the antique copper and bronze.
