An Ornate 19th Century Louis XVI Style Chimneypiece.

An attractive 19th century chimneypiece of substantial width and proportion, in Louis XVI style. The console jambs are splendidly carved with acanthus and with beading running down a central vale. The corner blocks are similarly carved with acanthus rosettes, and a breakfront frieze is highly decorated with symmetrically organised and variegated floral motifs, beginning at the centre with a sunflower and with flanking pairs running out. The humble sunflower is said to spread hope and happiness.
