A Bowed 19th Century Louis XVI Style Chimneypiece.

A striking 19th century chimneypiece carved in Carrara marble, with intricate carving. The piece demonstrates a frieze and shelf bowed in form with the shelf breaking forward over the corner blocks. The frieze has a lengthy stretch of running guilloche reaching out in both directions to corner blocks carved with acanthus leaves. These blocks are upheld by console jambs carved again with acanthus on their scrolling heads.
