An Early Georgian Irish Kilkenny Fossil Frame Chimneypiece
An Irish frame chimneypiece of simple, elegant lines carved from Kilkenny Marble, the jambs and header featuring fielded panels. The header is carved with two paterae and exhibits a keystone of stopped flutes. Carved in the reign of George I, this chimneypiece is a good example of refined, early Georgian design.
