Stapeley

This unusual neoclassical fireplace features a frieze with a guilloche flanked rectangular tablet with strigils and paterae in imitation of a Roman sarcophagus. The corner blocks boast beautifully carved paterae above console shaped jambs decorated with the overlapping guilloche.
